OUR PROGRAMS

We offer free after-school programming for 5th - 12th graders in Bishop, CA. From field games and music, coloring pages to collective puzzles, canal fishing, magnet tiles to watercolors, and a quiet place to actually finish that homework and receive academic support, we provide options for our 10 - 18 year olds to choose their own adventure.

it takes a crew to make movie magic… and Adult Prom magic ! We’re looking for volunteers to make this year’s annual Adult Prom extra extra glamorous ! If you’d like to lend a hand, email lindsay@eastsidestudentcenter.org ♥️ we need volunteers May 9th and May 10th

Thank you @home_sgc for the donations to the new in ground garden bed project replacing the sand box at our Fowler St location (Bishop United Methodist Church) 🫛🍅🌷

We received potting soil, tons of seeds, knee pads, student sized garden aprons, a hummingbird feeder and refill syrup, compostable pots, plant labels, tulip bulbs and great advice! 🍃🌱

We are slowly getting rid of our sand, thank you to all that stopped by! We still have some left! 205 N Fowler come get it! 🛻 🪏

Thank you to Gina at @chalfant_big_trees_farm_feed for donating a HUGE amount of soil and compost to the new in ground garden bed project at the Bishop Methodist Church (our Fowler St location for 5th-6th graders!) 🪏

We are on our final steps of getting rid of the huge amount of sand! We moved 2k pounds of sand already 🥲😅🥰 sand bags are available for pickup, please help yourself (205 N Fowler st Bishop)

The soil and compost that is replacing the sand is 🍃ORGANIC🌱 and we are so grateful!

We are one step closer to our food forest!! 🌱🫛🍅🍓

For context on the last slide, students at Line st voted that they want a $50 allowance per month! We made ballots for them to vote this in on voting day November 2025.

The first purchase they voted on was a new Xbox controller!

So far the vote was to “save it up for next month”

Students, don’t forget you have the power to spend this money! Write your ideas on the white board and rally together to vote for the purchases YOU want!

With the help of the Bishop Community Garden🪏, The Bishop, Ca United Methodist Church and potential local donations, we are going to turn this sand box into food and flowers! 🌹 🥕🍅

We will be removing the sand next week, if anyone’s needs some sand send us a message!

Thank you to the @bishopcommunitygarden / @bishopcommunitycompost for letting us borrow the shovels from the shed for next week 🙏

Donations we are requesting are spade shovels, child/young adult sized gardening gloves and trowels to help get our Fowler location students outside and in the dirt! 🧑‍🌾🪏🫜

So far we got excellent advice and bags of tulip bulbs from @home_sgc 🌷🌷🌷🌷

and bags of soil and compost, irrigation supplies and plants soon to come from @chalfant_big_trees_farm_feed ! 🪏🧑‍🌾

Huge huge thank you to everyone we talked to today about this project! Our local businesses are gems 💎

Flour Power Cohort 2 begins today ! 🍪 taking a moment to shout out our amazing student bakers from Flour Power Cohort 1 this past fall ! Truly exceptional work, chefs ! ✨ Flour Power is Eastside Student Center’s six week baking and cafe skills workshop, empowering youth to build confidence in the kitchen while gaining hands-on job readiness skills !
